Yamato-kotoba refers to the indigenous words of the Japanese language used before the introduction of Chinese characters. This book introduces sixteen yamato-kotoba phrases rooted in Japanese everyday life, both past and present, in chronological order from morning to night, along with explanations of their meanings and illustrations inspired by them.
