Kinue Hitomi was Japan’s first female Olympic medalist. Her huge first step contributed to the advancement of women’s athletics in Japan and their emergence on the world stage.
A devoted athlete, Kinue was also a lover of literature and classical Japanese poetry and showed talent as a newspaper reporter. Although her life ended far too soon, her bravery, perseverance, and sensitivity make her a role model for not just Japanese women but people all over the world as well.
This book tells her life story through text and illustrations.
