オリンピック三部作の一つ『ピエール・ド・クーベルタン～世界と日本の近代』では、クーベルタンと嘉納治五郎の出会いも描く。
Jigoro Kano was the founder of Kodokan Judo, as well as a passionate educator. How did he invent judo and become an educator? And how was he involved in the bid to host the (eventually abandoned) 1940 Olympics in Tokyo? This book tells his life story through illustrations and text. The philosophy he cultivated through the practice of judo is also described at the end. The book was published under the editorial supervision of the Kodokan Judo Institute.
Another volume in our Olympic trilogy, Pierre de Coubertin: Encounters between the West and Japan on the Cusp of Modernity, describes Kano’s meeting with Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
