The complete set of our “Scenes of Japanese Culture” trilogy, which introduces aspects of Japanese culture that have been passed down over many years with various influences and survive to the present day, as well as aspects that we would like to preserve for the future, by following the course of Japanese cultural history. This series starts with ancient times and proceeds to trace the shaping of Japanese identity in the Middle Ages and the further development of Japanese culture in early modern times through text and illustrations.
